I tested Corridor Digital’s AI keyer… and honestly, the results are kind of insane.
In this tutorial, I try out the Corridor Key AI model via the Baskl.ai plugin inside After Effects to see how it handles real-world footage, including some pretty rough test shots that would normally be a nightmare to key.
This isn’t a perfect replacement for traditional keying workflows just yet, but for a drag-and-drop solution, it’s seriously impressive.
In this tutorial I cover:
- Testing the plugin on badly exposed S-Log footage
- Comparing results across multiple clips
- Hair detail, spill, and difficult edges
- A quick luma matte workaround to preserve colour
- Thoughts on where AI keying tools are heading
One of the things I like about testing tools like this is using imperfect footage rather than ideal studio examples. It’s much more useful seeing how something performs in less-than-perfect situations.
For something this simple, the results are surprisingly strong — especially considering how difficult some of these shots would normally be to key cleanly.
